Immigration Stories

Exploring immigration through individual stories. A senior project.

Home: Welcome

Our Goal

We wanted to use the stories from a variety of immigrants to humanize the people behind the news headlines. We tend to only see immigration through these political headlines blinding us from the individuality of immigration itself. Throughout this experience, we learned immigration stories are very different from one another. However, each of them present elements of uncertainty, luck, hope, and work.  We hope that through this website you begin to examine the immigration crisis of the US not through the words of a politician, but through the experience of immigrants themselves.

Our Project

How we did it

We came up with the idea of interviewing immigrants in the central NJ area a few months ago. We began to compile as many people to interview as possible through social media, school, and personal contacts. We then recorded everyone's story and published them on our blog adding our own analysis at the beginning. Following this, we made sure to add news articles and resources for those that seek to expand their knowledge of the US immigration crises. Finally, we added our own segments about our personal story and how we view immigration following this project.

"Nikola Tesla was an immigrant. So were Joseph Pulitzer and Albert Einstein and Igor Stravinsky. Rational, compassionate immigration reform is needed so that the next Teslas and Einsteins are not denied access to educational or entrepreneurial opportunities in the US. The time has come."
